One of the victims of the mass shooting in Dayton, Ohio, this past weekend reportedly made a FaceTime call to the father of her two children, one who is only weeks old.
The Daily Mail reports that Daryl Lee, the father of Lois Ogelsby’s two children, said in a post on social media that he got a Facetime call from the 27-year-old nursing student just moments after she was fatally shot while out in Dayton’s Oregon District early Sunday morning.
“She FaceTimed me and said ‘Babe I just got shot in my head, I need to get to my kids,’” Lee reportedly said on Facebook.
Ogelsby, who went by the name Lola, had posted photos of her recent pregnancy and her newborn daughter, Reign, on her own Facebook page, along with her 6-year-old daughter Hannah. The posts show that Ogelsby had a strong sense of humor and was deeply proud of her daughters. She also appeared to be popular with friends, many who have had posted messages of mourning on her page.
“That’s strong as f**k to hold off to call me,” Lee reportedly said on Facebook, according to the Daily Mail.
“She was letting me know she loved me and to take care of these kids… I got you babe. I can’t stop crying.”
Nine people were killed early Sunday morning before police engaged the suspected shooter, 24-year-old Connor Betts, fatally shooting him. Betts was reportedly wearing body armor and a mask when he opened fire in an alley in the entertainment district, before fatally shooting his own sister and then making his way toward a popular bar, where he was taken out by police officers less than a minute after he started shooting.
Authorities are still working to determine a motive for the massacre.
