Dash Cam Footage in Philando Castile Case Released

Authorities have released dashcam footage of the traffic stop in which Minnesota police officer Jeronimo Yanez fatally shot motorist Philando Castile.

The video shows the officer firing seven gunshots at the motorist during a traffic stop in July of 2016.

The footage was used as evidence in the trial of Yanez, who was acquitted of manslaughter in the shooting death of Castile.

Up until this footage was released, the only version of the interaction between Castile and Yanez came from a Facebook live video that was filmed by Castile’s girlfriend Diamond Reynolds in the aftermath of the shooting.
