Ice Cube’s BIG3 Basketball League Being Sued For $250M For Stealing Players

Ice Cube’s new basketball league, the Big3, which debuted this summer, is being sued by a rival organization. The Champion Basketball League (CBL) is suing Cube and the Big3 league for $250 million for allegedly stealing players. According to the New York Daily News, the CBL’s founder, Carl George, claims that Ice Cube and his co-founder Jeff Kwatinetz, initially tried to work with George and the CBL to create a league that could possibly rival the NBA.

Carl George says the CBL was originally forced to postpone and then cancel the start of their summer league because the Big3 forced its players to sign exclusive contracts which prohibited them from playing in CBL games. The CBL’s lawsuit alleges, “When certain players expressed their desire to participate in the CBL games, Mr. Cube confronted the players personally about playing in the CBL and threatened the players that they would be fined, not allowed to participate in the 52% of revenues bonus pool, or  be replaced on their teams. These threats were also shared with the CBL.”
