As the founder of All-N-One Security, Mary Parker is the first Black woman to own a full-service security firm, which is also a multi-million dollar business. Originally starting her business in her kitchen with less than $500 invested, Mary’s business is now a multi-million dollar security firm that employs more than 200 people. While the company is based in Atlanta, GA, it also has locations in Alabama and Mississippi. The company provides security solutions, security technology, and security personnel to corporations, small businesses, and other corporate entities.
Although Mary had earned a Bachelor of Science degree in criminology and then went on to attain her Master’s degree in security management, she realized there was a “glass ceiling” in the security industry for minority women while working as Director of Security at Diesel Technologies Corporation. After hitting the proverbial glass ceiling, Mary decided to create her own security company. After relocating to Atlanta, GA in 2001, she started her security firm in her kitchen. That small at-home business soon grew into a multi-million dollar firm with clients in the aviation industry, local municipal governments, natural gas companies, transportation companies, concert promoters, and educational firms.
Mary Parker returns the blessings she has received by being a mentor to other women and giving lectures to students majoring in criminal justice programs in college. Mary has this advice for others looking to be successful in business, “Develop a posture of strength, develop a posture of “can-do”, develop a posture of turning “no’s” into what it is you want it to be, and also develop a posture of comradery – knowing that we get nowhere by ourselves.”
“If you want to go fast, go alone. But if you want to go far, go together,” is an old African proverb that Mary lives by.
