Little Rock, Ark. – The mother of a 5-year-old child is calling for the termination of his kindergarten teacher after she says the teacher forced her son to dig in the toilet and remove feces with his bare hands.
According to the boy’s mother, Ashley Murry, her son told her that his teacher at Crystal Hill Elementary School made him clean out a toilet with his hands because he put too much toilet paper in it.
“It’s degrading for a child so I don’t feel like any child should have to go through this,” said Ashley Murry, Mother of 5-year-old, “They basically made him go in the toilet and get his feces and the dirty tissue out of the toilet,” said Ashley.
After the incident, Ashley said she received a call from the teacher, who could not explain her actions.
“She got on the phone with me and she said she didn’t have an explanation, she just knew she was wrong,” Ashley said. “But she stated to the principal that she was trying to teach how not to stop up the toilet.”
Ashly has since pulled her son out of class at the school and is demanding that the teacher be terminated.
“She needs to be terminated because you don’t treat kids like this. He is a kid,” Ashley said.
The Pulaski County Special School District said it is “actively” investigating the situation and that the teacher has been placed on administrative leave. The name of the teacher was not revealed by the district, however a Twitter post identified her as Karla Lasiter.
A GoFundMe campaign has been started to help pay for counseling for the child and to assist the family with legal fees as they “try to seek justice from the Pulaski County Special School District.”
