NJ Police Officer Arrested And Charged With Assault For Beating Black Teen

Joseph Reiman, a 31-year-old Carteret, New Jersey police officer has been arrested and charged for allegedly assaulting and injuring a Black teenager.

According to prosecutors, Officer Reiman was following the 16-year-old in his police cruiser last week when the teen’s vehicle crashed. After the car accident, Reiman allegedly kicked and hit the teen numerous times.

NBC News reported that the officer did not take the teen to the hospital or call for an ambulance following the encounter. Although Reiman’s body camera was not on during the incident, the dashboard camera on his patrol car captured footage of what took place.

The officer faces charges that include third-degree aggravated assault and second-degree official misconduct. An investigation into the incident is ongoing. Meanwhile, Reiman is suspended without pay.

ABC News reported that the teen’s family, who posted images of his injuries on social media, plans on taking legal action.

“The conduct engaged in by this Officer Reiman far exceeded the force that was necessary to do anything, it’s our opinion that there was no force necessary,” the family’s lawyer told the outlet in a statement.

The teen has been released from the hospital.

Rogue police who carry the mantle of generational racism expect Blacks to speak with respect to them. Blacks were once lynched for not saying yes sir or no sir . Law enforcement will need to remove this ilk from their ranks. This activity has already caused the deaths of police….Remember Baton Rouge and Dallas? This madness must stop!!!!

5/21/19. The young man was treated physically abusive. In the footage you see a grown officer beating him with his club. Full swing. Kid on ground. This is totally WRONG. This officer Should be suspended w/o pay. He should be prosecuted to fullest extent of the Law. Parents. Definitely sue. I hope we learn more details like why he was being pulled over and what caused him to crash. The Truth of the full Story must come out. Detonate Predjudice and White priveledge attitude being Exerted here.

This is child abuse. If a parent were to beat their 16 year old, CPS would remove the child and the parent would be charged. Police shouldn’t and thankfully in this case get a free pass to beat our children.
