Black Women Celebrated Natural Hair at Sunday’s 3rd Annual CurlFest In Brooklyn

Did you miss the third annual CurlFest this past Sunday (June 26, 2016) at Prospect Park in Brooklyn? The event was full of Black women (and some men) from all over New York City celebrating natural hair.

Created in 2014 by the Curly Girl Collective (Charisse Higgins, Melody Henderson, Tracey Coleman, Simone Mair, and Gia Lowe), Curl Fest connects beauty brands and women of color by throwing events where they can celebrate their beauty. The event is a celebratory space for natural hairs of all different textures and lengths. It also helps to promote black-owned beauty brands with sponsors like Shea Moisture, which recently released their first commercial with a narrative about how it feels to shop for haircare products as a black woman.

We gathered some of our favorite Instagram photos from the event to showcase here. For more pictures search #curlfeast2016 on Instagram or go to https://curlfest.splashthat.com/.
