DOUGLASVILLE, GA — Police in Georgia have arrested a woman wanted in connection with a road rage shooting that left a teenager hospitalized with a gunshot wound to the face.
According to the Douglasville Police Department, Brittney Griffith, 30, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in connection with the shooting that occurred around 4:40 p.m. on Sunday.
Witnesses in the victim’s vehicle told police that a woman in a black sedan started following them after “some type of road rage incident” occurred between them and the driver. According to the witnesses’ statements, as their vehicle approached the Chapel Hill Road exit on I-20, the suspect pulled up next to them and fired at least one shot, hitting the 17-year-old in the face. They say the suspect drove off immediately after the shooting, police said.
Police say the victim, who’s name has not been publicly identified, is in stable condition and is expected to recover.
A passenger in the victim’s vehicle took a photo of the suspect and posted it on social media. Griffith was arrested and charged the following day.
Detectives learned that Griffith had her three children, ages 4 to 9, in the car with her during the time of the shooting. In addition to her original charges, she was also charged with three counts of cruelty to children.
