Tyler Perry stepped up in a big way to help the legal defense of Breonna Taylor’s boyfriend, Kenneth Walker. On Sunday, the movie/business mogul donated $100,000 to Walker’s GoFundme for legal defense.
The GoFundMe campaign, which had a total goal amount was $100,000, had only reached $600 since it was created on November 10. That goal was met and since exceeded since Perry made five successive donations equaling a total of $100,000.
Walker is being sued by one of the officers involved in the shooting of Breonna Taylor during a botched no-knock warrant in Louisville, Ky on March 13.
LMPD Officer Jonathan Mattingly is seeking unspecified damages after allegedly being shot in the leg by Walker, claiming he suffered “severe trauma, mental anguish, and emotional distress” because of Kenneth Walker’s actions on March 13.
Walker, a licensed gun owner who said he thought the officers were intruders, allegedly fired a shot that hit Mattingly in the leg.
Police opened fire, shooting blindly into the apartment from outside, killing Taylor. Taylor had no criminal record and no drugs were found.
According to the GoFundMe page, organized by Jacob Romines, “Donations will go towards Kenneth Walker’s legal expenses in his defense against Mattingly’s lawsuit and related litigation.”
