At around 8pm Tuesday night police responded to a shooting in North Braddock, Pa. According to witnesses, a car was seen fleeing the scene and police stopped a vehicle matching the description a few blocks away. Two of the passengers jumped out and one (a still unnamed 17-year-old) was shot and killed by the police.
A statement from county Police Superintendent Coleman McDonough appears to confirm these details:
He [the officer] stopped the vehicle and attempted to take the driver into custody. At that time, two other men in the vehicle exited and fled on foot,” McDonough said. “The East Pittsburgh police officer fired at the fleeing suspects. One of those individuals is a 17-year-old male. He was transported to [UPMC] McKeesport Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 9:19 p.m.
The shooting appears to have been captured on video. The video (see above) shows two people running away while the police fire multiple shots at them. One appears to be shot in the back and falls off camera.
