Cynthia Baker, the woman convicted of killing 8-year old Rica Rountree is claiming her lawyer was ineffective in assisting her and is trying to get a new trial.
Cynthia was convicted of murder and other child abuse charges for the death of Rica on November 19. The child, who was Baker’s boyfriend’s daughter, suffered intestinal perforation after Baker kicked her in the stomach. Rica suffered for up to five days before she was finally taken to the hospital where she died on January 26.
Baker is scheduled to be sentenced on January 31. She is facing a possible life sentence because the jury found the murder to be heinous and with wanton cruelty.
Baker’s new attorney, Phil Finegan, will be representing her as she seeks a new tail based on a claim of ineffective assistance of counsel during her original murder trial.
A hearing is now set for January 3. Finegan told WGLT that he is asking the court for some time in order to review the trial transcripts.

This why we men hate to marry woman as step mum for our children. Any lady who knew she tolerate the step child should never attempt to marry their dad!
I do not believe in mixing families with women/men who are jealous of your child or children from a previous relationship. The husbands and wives are Evil…. And if your child or children feel a certain way towards them, do not marry or cohabitate with them. That big Souse was so jealous of this beautiful baby. She needs to be on death row Without the possibility of another trial.
She needs the same thing done to her that was done to that poor baby. And not all step parents are like this.
